OBC Scholarship 2024
The Directorate for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes in Assam has officially launched the Assam OBC Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2023-2024. These centrally supported scholarships include both Pre-Matric and Post-Matric levels and are specifically meant for students from Assam’s Other Backward Classes (OBC / MOBC). Candidates who match the qualifying requirements can readily submit their applications through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam OBC Scholarship 2024
Community Requirement: OBC students only.
Citizenship Requirements: Only Indian nationals may apply.
Family Restrictions: Scholarships are limited to two male children from the same parents or guardians. However, this restriction does not apply to female candidates. As a result, scholarships obtained by female siblings who share the same parents or guardians do not affect the eligibility of up to two male siblings from the same home.
Income Ceiling:
- Pre-Matric (Class-IX & X) [Segment-I] and Post-Matric Scholarship: Scholarships offered to OBC students whose parental/guardian’s total annual income does not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh. The income certificate should only be received from the circle officer for the relevant revenue circle.
- Pre-Matric (Class I-X) [Segment-II] Scholarship: No income restrictions apply to children of those engaged in occupations involving cleaning and prone to health hazards. Eligible candidates must submit a certificate from the District Social Welfare office, an identified officer of the Local body, Civic Agency, or any authority designated by the State Government.
How to apply OBC Scholarship
- Visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
- Register for a new account if you haven’t already.
- Login and fill out the online application form.
- Upload the required documents:
- Bank Passbook
- Income Certificate
- Caste Certificate
- Aadhar Card (mandatory, except for minor applicants without Aadhaar)

Note:
- Applicants are strongly advised to provide only those bank account details that remain active to ensure the smooth disbursement of scholarships through DBT mode.
- The authority is not liable for transaction failures due to inactive or incorrect bank details.
- Aadhaar has become mandatory for all applicants. However, for minor applicants without Aadhaar, it is compulsory for the parent or legal guardian to provide Aadhaar.
