National Testing Agency (NTA) has released to the public the official NTA UGC NET 2023 notification as per official notification for the post of Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor, both scheduled for December 2023. The UGC-NET, a computer-based test (CBT) that includes 83 subjects, will be administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in December 2023 for deciding eligibility for “Assistant Professor” and “Junior Research Fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria for NTA UGC NET Exam 2023
Age Requirements:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Applicants must not exceed 30 years of age as of the first day of the month in which the examination concludes, i.e., December 1, 2023. Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and women applicants are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5 years.
Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for individuals applying for the UGC-NET as Assistant Professors.
Educational Qualifications:
General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates should have achieved a minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or an equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC. This requirement applies to fields such as Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, etc. You can find the list of recognized institutions on the website: www.ugc.ac.in.
Candidates currently pursuing their Master’s degree or an equivalent course, those who have appeared for their final year qualifying Master’s degree examination with pending results, or individuals whose qualifying examinations have faced delays, are also eligible to apply for this test. However, these candidates will be granted provisional admission and will be considered eligible for JRF or eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they pass their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender category candidates). These candidates must successfully complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of the NET result with the required percentage of marks. Failing to do so will result in disqualification.
